Sulphur Springs – 60 pounds of marijuana was seized along Interstate 30 near Sulphur Springs over the weekend. State Troopers took 36 year old George B. Russell of Evansville, Indiana into custody after a routine traffic stop for speeding Sunday. Russell was stopped for speeding, and after a license check revealed a history of drug and weapons charges, DPS trooper Joseph Hogue asked if he could search the vehicle. Russell refused, and Hogue called in a canine unit. The dog gave a positive alert on the car and officers found 60 pounds of marijuana in the vehicle.
Russell was taken to county jail and charged with felony possession.
