Hunt County – A local church plans to welcome home a returning soldier.
A celebration in honor of the arrival of Sgt. Phil Nixon has been scheduled for Saturday afternoon at Aldersgate Church, 5500 Sayle Street in Greenville. Sgt.
Nixon, whose parents Jeff and Cathy Nixon live in Celeste, is a longtime member of the church and is scheduled to arrive there at around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, following a 13-month tour of duty in Iraq.
Those who plan to attend are asked to show 15 minutes early and welcome to bring signs, banners and other decorations.
