Wild West Round-up at Children's Museum

Commerce – The second annual Mother-Son Event at the Northeast Texas Children's Museum will have a Wild West Round-up theme. This special event for mothers and sons will take place on Saturday, October 9th at 6:00 PM.

Activities from the Old West will highlight the evening. Young cowboys and their moms will be able to join a posse looking for stagecoach bandits. They can pan for gold and practice their roping skills. Pitching horseshoes is only one of the activities that will give cowboys an opportunity to win a prize. Each mom and young cowboy will receive a souvenir photo. Special cowboy grub from the chuck wagon will be available throughout the evening.

The event is a fundraiser for the Northeast Texas Children's Museum. It also offers moms and sons an opportunity to enjoy an evening of special time together. For some of the activities, mothers and sons must work together as a team.

"Although Luke and I have had many opportunities to experience riding together, this event will provide a different setting for us to be a part of a western event," related Kathleen Hooten.

"I've already finished working on Nicholas's western outfit," said Laura Finley. "It's great that he will get to wear something that he already has."

"Western wear will certainly be a part of the evening," said Sharline Freeman, Executive Director. "Last year our Pirate Night encouraged boys to come as pirates. Many of our young boys will be more familiar with the life of a cowboy."

The Wild West Round-up tickets will be $25 for each mom and son. There will be an additional $10 for each additional son. Tickets will be $10 more on the day of the event. Tickets may be purchased by phone or at the Museum. For questions concerning the Wild West Round-up, call the Northeast Texas Children's Museum at (903) 886-6055.
