Hopkins County – An area woman was shot and killed Tuesday by Hopkins County Deputies when she was caught burglarizing a residence. The incident occurred at a house on County Road 2307 Tuesday evening. The 35 year old woman was caught by deputies burglarizing the house and refused to drop a shotgun she was armed with despite numerous commands by the deputies. She eventually raised the weapon and aimed it at several deputies. In reaction, one of the deputies fired his weapon hitting the woman in the abdomen. The woman later died at an area hospital.
The name of the woman has not yet been released.
