OPENING TIP

A&M-Commerce will try to sweep the season series with the Aggies on Wednesday and win their third in the series overall. The Lions will then try to sweep Midwestern State on Saturday for the first time since the 1995-96 season. A win for the Lions would also be the first time since winning four straight from 2005-09 that the Lions won back-to-back games versus the Mustangs.

SERIES SCORE

The Lions are now 20-19 versus Cameron with the win earlier this season. The last time the Lions won two straight versus the Aggies they rattled off six more in a row from 2006-10. Before the Lions win this season versus the Mustangs the Lions had dropped the previous six meetings. Prior to that, the Lions won four consecutively from 2005-09 with two going to overtime. The Lions have won all three meetings between the two schools that have gone to overtime.

SCOUTING THE AGGIES

The Aggies have only won once since the calendar turned to 2014. But that one win was a big one as it was at Tarleton State back in mid-January. That win could loom large when conference tournament time comes and is used in tie breakers. Since that win the Aggies have dropped two straight, with losses at home to Angelo State and at the buzzer at Midwestern State. At the halfway point in the conference slate, the Aggies are last in ppg (64.0) but third in scoring defense (69.3).

Key Players

#10 Jazzmine Robinson: 12.1 ppg / 6.3 rpg / 1.7 apg / 1.3 spg

#12 Chelsea Stamp: 10.1 ppg / 0.8 rpg / 43.7% 3PT FG / 42.9% FG

#25 Ali Brown: 9.2 ppg / 5.6 rpg / 0.5 bpg / 70.2% FT

SCOUTING THE MUSTANGS

The Mustangs play at Tarleton State before the Lions go up to Wichita Falls on Saturday. As of now the Mustangs are riding a three game winning streak after losing three of four including a overtime loss to the Lions at The Field House, 71-64, back in mid-January. Midwestern State ranks fourth in scoring (70.1) and fifth in scoring defense (65.5).

Key Players

#11 Andrea Carter: 14.9 ppg / 8.7 rpg / 2.1 spg / 52.8% FG

#25 Kirsti Degelia: 11.2 ppg / 2.7 rpg / 3.0 apg / 35.6% 3PT FG

#33 Dianna Jones: 10.2 ppg / 2.3 rpg / 4.8 apg / 36.4% 3PT FG

DIXON CHASING 1,000 POINTS

Seniors, Danielle Dixon continues the climb towards 1,000 career points. Dixon is just four points away from the milestone and would become the 10th Lion to reach the mark. Harris continues to put up great production so far this season for the Lions. Harris is averaging 15.9 points and 10.6 rebounds in 18 games so far. Harris has recorded double-doubles in eight of 18 games. Harris has already set the program record for double-doubles in a career with her 34 in a Lion uniform. Only three other Lion players have ever recorded 10 more double-doubles during their careers.
