Wood County – The owner of a tire dump in Wood County, where a recent fire forced evacuations in the City of Hawkins, has been charged with illegal dumping.
48-year-old Robert Joshua Foster, of Mineola, recently turned himself in to authorities. He has since been released on $1,500 bond. Foster is said to be responsible for disposing of more than a hundred thousand tires at his scrap lot in Hawkins.
Last week, those tires were the fuel for a huge fire that forced evacuations of schools, businesses and residents in Hawkins. While the cause of the fire is being called suspicious, the exact cause is still under investigation.
