Work on former ESCO plant to begin

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – Work to clean contaminated soil is set to begin in northeast Greenville. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the agency's contractors have set up shop in Ardis Heights, as the effort of contamination from the former ESCO plant is about to begin. Evacuations of the surrounding neighborhood could get underway today, with demolition and remediation of the plant itself to come later. The plant was formally listed last week as a Superfund clean-up site, as one of the most polluted contaminated waste properties in Texas.
