On Thursday, May 3 Delta County gathered under the protection of the pagoda on the Square in Cooper to observe the National Day of Prayer. The welcoming was given by Pastor Eugene Adams of Pacio Baptist Church, who also led the singing of the National Anthem.
Pastor Adams was thankful for the use of the pagoda as the rains fell that lunch hour. He recognized the importance of government founded upon the principles of God’s Word.
“The Bible wrote to Timothy these words found in 1 Timothy 2:1-2 ‘Therefore I exhort first all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving thanks be made for all men, 2) for kings and all who are in authority, we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.’ A government that recognizes that Almighty God is the true source of power and depends on that source will be blessed by Almighty God who reigns over all. It’s citizens will indeed be able to live a quiet and peaceable life resting in reverence for God,” said Pastor Adams.
Over 25 people braved the stormy weather to pray for the Nation with First Baptist Church Assistant Pastor Brent Bolton, Nation’s Military with Crimson River Cowboy Church Assistant Pastor Bryce Jester, State of Texas with United Pentecostal Church of Cooper Pastor Brother Mike Stone, Delta County with First Baptist Church of Cooper Youth Minister Mayor Darren Braddy, Cooper with First Baptist Church of Cooper Pastor Brother Johnnie Witherspoon, and our churches with Brother Alan Church.
Pastor Mike Stone gave the prayer for the State of Texas including the sports teams – like the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers.
During Mayor Braddy’s prayer he asked to be lifted up to help guide the leaders of our County. He stated that Delta County is the charm of Northeast Texas, being a great place to work and an even better place to live.
