YOU'RE WARNED,
stoplights return to
one Commerce intersection

By Bill Oliver

Commerce, TX –

Let KETR be the first to warn Commerce motorists that stoplights are back ON at Live Oak and Monroe in Commerce.

TxDOT, the Texas Department of Transportation, turned off the signals this summer as a test. Without warning Wednesday morning, TxDOT employees turned ON those signals.

KETR was notified by Commerce City Hall. City Hall was notified by motorists reporting they almost hit or were almost struck by motorists conditioned to stop in all four directions. City Hall employees said TxDOT did not notify them the lights would be turned on Wednesday morning.

Traffic control devices on Live Oak are controlled by the state because it is a state highway. The traffic count and traffic pattern met state guidelines for the stoplights to be ON at Live Oak and Monroe. However, the stoplights at Live Oak and Washington will remain OFF.
