Youth exercising mind and body during Kids Camp

By Scott Harvey

Commerce – The Boys and Girls Club of Northeast Texas, Commerce Branch wraps up their first week of the Summer II Session of Kids Camp Friday.

In partnering with the Commerce ISD, Communities in Schools, area churches and volunteers, kids are allowed the opportunity to exercise their minds and bodies.

This week, A&M-Commerce Head Women's Basketball Coach Nicole Anderson incorporated her highly motivating Hoop School program into the regular session.

Anderson says the program is about "fitness and nutrition for elementary and middle school-aged kids. We get out on the basketball floor and help them to have a great time. Started the program in 1994 and did it in California and wanted to bring it to Texas."

Hoop School will continue each Monday and Wednesday through the remaining of the Summer II Session.

Themes for the next several weeks also include History's Mysteries, All Around the World and Money Matters. You can learn more by calling 903-413-8353.
