Movie Picks with Alice Reese

Friday afternoons at 4:50pm and 5:50pm, during All Things Considered

Each week KETR listeners are treated to descriptions without spoilers and opinions about cinema from the movie reviewer for the Greenville Herald Banner and the Rockwall Herald Banner, Alice Reese. Her insight has been known to save moviegoers' wallets from poor decisions, and to expose Northeast Texas to the immense culture surrounding art house films.

In the end of winter and early spring, says film critic Alice Reese, the quality of movies tends to suffer. In spite of that fact, Reese still recommends a trio of works worth witnessing for the weekend of February 19-21, 2016.

This week on Movie Picks, Alice reviews The Revenant, and refreshes our memories on a few movies out on DVD this week.

The Revenant:

Leonardo DiCaprio has, in Alice's opinion, his best chance yet to finally nab an Oscar. Alice really enjoyed this movie, and even though it runs a bit long, she never felt it.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens:

It's set 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi. Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher return as their original roles, but this film mainly focuses on a new generation of characters. Alice thinks it will be as big as all the hype.
