Two plead not guilty to robbery / shooting charges

Two local men have pleaded not guilty to multiple charges involving a reported January 15 robbery/shooting incident in Greenville.

The indictments against Christopher Stephen Martin and Anthony Tyrone Davis Jr. were issued last month by the Hunt County grand jury.

Martin, 31, and Davis, 21, both from Greenville, were charged in connection with a robbery and shooting at a residence in the 2500 block of Broadview Street in Greenville.

Dozens of dogs, cats seized from residence

Dozens of animals were seized Wednesday from a residence near Royse City, after they were allegedly discovered living in crates inside the home.

“The living conditions were, obviously, terrible,” said Hunt County Constable Precinct 1 Terry Jones, who joined representatives with the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals of Texas, deputies with the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office and Investigator Mike Pierce with the Hunt County Attorney’s Office in the action.

Trial set for man facing multiple charges

A local man who was arrested more than two years ago on federal charges for allegedly operating a drug ring out of the Hunt County Jail has had trial scheduled on multiple state-level counts of drug dealing and endangering a child.

The status of the federal indictments filed against Bobby Joe Evens of Greenville was unknown as of press time.

A local man has been re-sentenced to prison on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, in a situation which resulted in an appeals court overturning Bernard Dale Kelly Jr.’s original punishment and the recusal of the trial judge who originally heard the case.

Multiple firearms indictments to be unsealed

Multiple sealed indictments alleging the illegal possession of firearms are expected to be made public Feb. 3, during hearings in the 196th District Court.

A total of 10 charges against one individual are scheduled to be considered during the hearings, scheduled for 9 a.m. Feb. 3.

The individual named in the indictments is identified on the court’s docket only by his/her initials, ARD, until such time as the charges are unsealed and made public.
