Lone Star Conference women's basketball championship bracket for 2015

STEPHENVILLE- With Lone Star Conference Tournament seeding on the line, the A&M-Commerce women's basketball team had to wait a full day to play for their fate, as the game for both men and women were moved from Saturday to Sunday due to the winter weather that has bogged down much of Texas all week long.

Once the game began, it became clear the Tarleton TexAnns would dominate the game. A 55-19 lead at the half led to a 97-53 victory for Tarleton.

The A&M-Commerce Track & Field team picked up their first conference championship in 48 years Sunday, Feb. 28 2015

LUBBOCK, TEXAS – A&M-Commerce captured its first LSC Track and Field Championship since 1967 and its first indoor title in school history, as the men compiled a score of 245 points to win the 2015 title.

"It was truly a team effort," said head coach Tom Dibbern, "Some scored the big points, some scored the little points, but they all added up. We scored in every event, and that was huge."

Texas A&M University-Commerce Lion football fans might see a new, yet familiar face on the team this season.

The Dallas Morning News is reporting that former University of Texas running back Joe Bergeron has transferred to A&M-Commerce.

Bergeron had recently been cut by UT head coach Charlie Strong for an "unspecified violation" of team rules, the report said.

The Texas A&M University-Commerce Lions 2014 football schedule was released March 11. The first game of the season will be Sept. 4 at Memorial Stadium where the Lions will face off against the East Texas Baptist University Tigers.

The schedule shows there will be at least four home games where the Lions will go head to head with East Texas Baptist University, Tarleton State University, West Texas A&M University, and McMurry University. There will also be another trip for the Lions to the AT&T Stadium

Rikard named director of media relations

Ben Rikard, most recently the Assistant Director of Media Relations at Stephen F. Austin State University, has been named Texas A&M University-Commerce's Director of Media Relations, according to an announcement by the athletic department Tuesday.
Rikard will serve as the primary contact for football, men's basketball, softball and golf, while overseeing the Lion athletics media relations staff.
