Commerce, TX – Texas A&M University-Commerce President Dr. McFarland said safety of students is his highest priority, considering parents send their most valuable possessions, their children, to the university.
11th District Congressman Mike Conaway of Midland, a 1970 graduate of then East Texas State, presented the Spring Convocation address at Texas A&M University-Commerce on Monday, April 2. You can hear the entire ceremony here.
40 years ago, the 1967 Spring Semester was when a graduate from Odessa-Permian High School started attending what was then East Texas State University. Now a Congressman from Midland serving the Permian Basin and the rest of the 36 counties in the 11th District, Mike Conaway is the first A&M-Commerce alumnus to serve in Congress since Sam Rayburn.

Gone for nearly a week, the Texas A&M University-Commerce women's basketball team came home to cheering fans after winning the NCAA Division II South Central Regional in St. Joseph, Missouri.
We have some updated pictures of the new City Hall in Commerce. City manager Bill Shipp led KETR's Kevin Jefferies through a tour as the building begins to look finished and furniture is moved in.

Dr. Michael D. McKinney, M.D., the new Chancellor of the Texas A&M University System, visited the A&M-Commerce campus on Wednesday, February 21st. The Chancellor and A&M-Commerce President Dr. Keith McFarland are seen in the Founders Lounge of the A&M-Commerce Memorial Student Center in front of the portrait of university founder Dr. William Leonidas Mayo. The Chancellor and President also visited with KETR General Manager Bill Oliver.

Commerce Idol was a fundraiser by the Commerce Rotary Club to generate scholarship money for Commerce High School graduates. With the winners is Bill Shipp, President of the Commerce Rotary Club.
3rd through 5th grade division 1st place winner, tap dancer Tabitha Wooten, and 2nd place winner Elizabeth Ashley, who performed a piano solo.
Goose-alini is doing well at the Animal Medical Center in Greenville, but doctors are unsure if they will be able to fix the problem. Good news is, the issue isn't hurting her in any way.
YET ANOTHER UPDATE!
We learned that Goose-alini is doing fine at the Animal Medical center in Greenville. They let her out daily to roam around a bit, on a special goose-harness leash-type thing. She visits the other animals around the hospital, offers up encouraging words (or honks, rather) of support, then waddles back to her pen and seems entirely content.
