The director of CASA (the Court-Appointed Special Advocates) of Hunt County, Lori Cope, says the organization plans to provide funding for foster parents and others to provide fun summer activities for children.  CASA was boosted in this effort by $10,000 raised by the Altrusa Club.  CASA will be having another training session for volunteers in July.  CASA serves children in foster care.

Lori Cope, the director of CASA -- the Court-Appointed Special Advocates of Hunt County -- says April is "Child Abuse Prevention Month."  Friday (April 6) is "Go Blue Day" when everyone is asked to wear blue in support of efforts to fight child-abuse.  The number of foster children in the CASA program is down from 190 early in 2017 to 184 now, and the number of CASA volunteers is up from 42 to 67.  A fund-raising program, "Bling By Badge

Lori Cope, executive director of CASA (Court-Appointed Special Advocates) of Hunt County says a case in neighboring Collin County of children in a custody case who tested positive for methamphetamine and cocaine is not unusual.

Lori Cope, the director of CASA (Court-Appointed Special Advocates) of Hunt County, says April is Child Abuse Prevention Month.  Lori says the number of child abuse cases and children in foster care in Hunt County has increased from about 140 at this time last year to nearly 200 today.  CASA provides volunteers who monitor children in foster care and advocate for them in court.
