COMMERCE, TEXAS (March 5, 2012) -- The Commerce Public Library is hosting a special passport event in Commerce on Saturday, March 10, 2012 from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm to provide passport information to U.S. citizens and to accept passport applications.  The library is joining the Department of State in celebrating Passport Day in the USA 2012, a national passport acceptance and outreach event.

COMMERCE - The Commerce Public Library has recently installed a new computer server with six terminals, an integrated and more user friendly service for customers. 

COMMERCE - The Commerce Public Library has launched a campaign to "Save the Library" by obtaining funds to renovate the building.

Library Board of Directors member Karl Clauss says the building hasn't received a major upgrade since it was constructed in 1917.

"This is actually a historic building - it's actually part of the historic designated buildings - so we're going through the Texas Historical Society," Clauss said. "In order to come up with something tangible we have to have a budget. And then we are going out for fundraising. "
