Judge Brown steps down to take Ark-Tex COG job

The search will soon be on for a new leader in Hopkins County as Judge Chris Brown will be recommended by the Ark-Tex Council of Governments search committee for their position of Executive Director. The Ark-Tex COG will be meeting for a final vote on the position, which oversees a $15 million budget, on Thursday, Oct. 31 at 10 a.m. in Omaha.

Former Hopkins fire chief arraigned on theft charge

Former Hopkins County Fire Chief Carl Nix, wanted on a theft charge, turned himself in to Delta County Sheriff's officers this morning, according to KETR’s Cindy Roller. Nix was the subject of a third-degree felony theft warrant from Hopkins County.

Nix was arraigned later on Friday. Eighth Judicial District Judge Eddie Northcutt set Nix’s bond at $10,000. Nix was released after posting the bond, according to Delta County Sheriff Ricky Smith.
