Commerce ISD likes results of STAAR tests

Commerce ISD Director of Curriculum and Instruction Charlie Alderman says the preliminary report on STAAR testing of students in the CISD is encouraging, although the official, complete results won't be released for some time yet.  Also, he discusses plans for the implementation of "endorsements" for students entering Commerce High School this fall.

New high school graduation requirements coming this fall

The Texas Education Agency has approved new high school graduation requirements under House Bill 5, which take effect this fall.  Commerce ISD superintendent Blake Cooper says the requirements give students more flexibility in choosing "endorsements," similar to college majors.  In particular, students who are more inclined toward vocational education will find expanded opportunities.

Anglin describes decision, challenges at PJC

Paris Junior College president Pamela Anglin will be at the school for the forseeable future - but it didn't look that way one month ago.

In October, Anglin announced her decision to leave to go work for Blinn College in Brenham. But just last week, Anglin announced that she had decided to stay.
