DrugFree Greenville

Pud Kearns of Housewarmers of Greenville is organizing the massive "Shattered Dreams" event Tuesday, February 20 through Thursday, February 22.  The event, sponsored by DrugFree Greenville, dramatically shows Greenville High School and Greenville Christian School students the result of a of driving-while-intoxicated accident, including the trial and funeral for the victims.

Bras for the Cause

Pud Kearns with Housewarmers of Greenville, and a leader of the annual "Bras for the Cause" campaign, says Monday and Tuesday are the days to submit the artfully (if not tastefully) designed bras for the fund-raising event.  They should be taken to Landon's Winery in downtown Greenville.  The theme this year is "Lifter Upper," a parody of the home-improvement TV show "Fixer Upper."  The event takes place Thursday evening, October 12 in downtown Greenvill

Greenville ISD

Pud Kearns with Housewarmers of Greenville reflects on the tradition of Texas high-school football, which resumes this week.  Pud notes that the tradition embodies not only the football teams, but the bands, drill teams, cheerleaders and other youth who are part of each community.

Majors Flying Club

Pud Kearns with Housewarmers of Greenville says the Majors Flying Club of Greenville meets at 11:30 Saturay at the L3 Recreation Hall.  Their meeting topic is "10 Tips for Recovering Bad Landings."  The club is for pilots and people interested in becoming pilots.  Members have access to the club's planes, which are maintained at the Majors Field Airport.

Greenville YMCA

Pud Kearns with Housewarmers of Greenville reflects on the reopening of the Greenville YMCA, which was hit hard by a storm in January, collapsing the exterior wall and roof of the indoor pool.  Now, the facility has reopened, with an outdoor pool for the time being, although Pud says there are plans to add an inflatable enclosure.

Bras for the Cause

Pud Kearns of Housewarmers of Greenville, and one of the "Big Boobs" who are the leaders of the annual Bras for the Cause event, says the theme of this year's event is "Lifter Upper." Bras for the Cause is committing to fund a $500,000 4-D CT scanner for the Hunt Regional Medical Center in Greenville that would provide extremely precise cross-section images used in diagnosing all forms of cancer.

Pud Kearns with Housewarmers of Greenville reports that a new events calendar for downtown Greenville, showtimedtgreenville.com.  Also, Pud says the annual Hunt County Shared Ministries, or FISH, barbecue has been moved this year from fall to spring, and will take place Friday, March 31.  An additional location this year will be the First United Methodist Church in Commerce.

Eagle Fest, Emory

Pud Kearns with Housewarmers of Greenville relates plans for Eagle Fest at Rains High School in Emory this Saturday and Sunday (January 28-29).  Rains County is known as the "Eagle Capital of Texas," and Pud says she's seen bald eagles on the wing at Lake Tawakoni and Club Lake southeast of Greenville.  Other upcoming events include "Golden Oldies Movie Night" at the Audie Murphy-American Cotton Museum in Greenville, at 5:30 p.m.

City of Greenville

Pud Kearns with Housewarmers of Greenville says it'll be a full day of holiday activities Saturday in downtown Greenville, ending with the annual Christmas parade at 6 p.m., followed by fireworks.  (The events may be postponed due to the weather.)
