Hunt County Shared Ministries, FISH

Wally Jeffers, the director of Hunt County Shared Ministries, also known as as FISH, says volunteers serving as "Hunt County Gives" will put together Thanksgiving food baskets tonight (November 15), Wednesday night and Thursday night at the FISH headquarters on King Street just south of downtown Greenville.  Wally says FISH and other organizations provided food assistance to around 4,000 families around Thanksgiving and Christmas of last year.

Wally Jeffers with Hunt County Shared Ministries (FISH), says the community-service organization holds its annual "Best of the Best" Barbecue Friday. FISH will host a barbecue luncheon for L3 and Innovation first employees, lunch and dinner at the Wesley United Methodist Church on Highway 69 east in Greenville, and will deliver lunch.  The event is the major fundraising event for FISH, which besides providing food for needy families, also helps with rent, electrical bills and other needs.

Pud Kearns with Housewarmers of Greenville says the $500,000 campaign to replace the 75-year-old seats in the Greenville Municipal Auditorium is about halfway to completion.  And Pud reports volunteers will fill Thanksgiving boxes with food for 900 Hunt County families Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights this week at the GEUS headquarters on Wesley Street just south of downtown Green

Hunt County United Way executive director Frances Dalbey says Hunt County Shared Ministries, or FISH, holds a "best of the best" barbecue Friday at the Wesley United Methodist Church on Highway 69 East in Greenville.  The event features the best barbecue and sides in Hunt County, as voted by a panel of judges.  The barbecue will be available Friday for lunch and dinner.  Frances says the United Way raised more than $25,000 for its own Hearts and Hands fund raiser last month.

Hunt County Shared Ministries, or FISH, has seen a 60% increase in demand for food assistance this year, says Hunt County United Way executive director Frances Dalbey.  FISH has a fund raising barbecue on Saturday, September 27, and donations can be made at the FISH headquarters on King Street south of downtown Greenville.

Hunt County United Way executive director Frances Dalbey says the Hunt County Shared Ministries organization (FISH) needs volunteers to help wrap Thanksgiving food packages from about 5-7 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday, November 19-21.  FISH is located at 2805 King St. in Greenville.  Volunteers will also be needed December 17-19 to wrap Christmas food packages.
