County receives hefty storm damage grant

Delta County finally sees funds to help with ice storm damage.

Delta County will be receiving $350,000 from Texas Department of Transportation for the ice storm damage experienced last December. Delta County Judge Herb Brookshire said they have been working to get this grant for quite some time, gathering photos and information from the Commissioners.

Beer/Wine election expected for May 2015

The petition for the legal sale of beer/wine off-premise for Delta County and all of the cities inside the County is still active. Many have questioned if the City of Cooper would be included in regards to an election held on January 9, 1971.

Election Identification Certificates available in Delta County

Per new legislation all voters must present photo identification. However, the State has invested funds to ensure this will not lessen votes cast.

Since Delta County does not have a Department of Public Safety office that issues identification, Delta County Judge Herb Brookshire has taken the steps to provide temporary voter identification cards at the Courthouse.

These Election Identification Certificates (EIC) will be issued to Texans who do not already have an acceptable form of photo identification necessary to vote.
