On Thursday morning, Feb. 2, 2017 Delta County Judge Jason Murray declared an emergency burn ban due to current fire danger conditions. It will take effect at noon today.

Multiple area fire departments were called to the Cooper Wildlife Management Area located near Cooper Lake and County Road 2020 in Klondike for an uncontrolled grass fire Monday afternoon at approximately 3:30 p.m. The flames engulfed 38 acres of the heavily timbered area with some scattered spot fires.

Fortunately there were no life-threatening injuries as a small foreign SUV veered from State Highway 24 South near the construction site, jumping John’s Creek and landing in a ditch Wednesday afternoon at approximately 3:45 p.m.
