Freshman Savannah Henderson picked up first team honors and senior Brionna Minde was a second team selection.
Texas A&M University-Commerce landed a pair on the Daktronics South Central All-Region team as defender Vicky Backand forward Savannah Henderson were both named second team honorees, announced today. It is the first all-region honor for both players as the duo played a key role in helping the Lions to a memorable 2013 season.
Texas A&M University-Commerce was able to earn the final at-large berth in the NCAA South-Central Regional with their 11-5-2 overall record despite falling in the Semifinals of the Lone Star Conference tournament to Midwestern State on penalty kicks. Their reward is facing St. Edward's, who earned the three seed after winning the Heartland Conference and are winners of 14 straight. The winner advances to play Fort Lewis in the second round on Sunday.
The Texas A&M University-Commerce women's soccer team is headed to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2008. A&M-Commerce earned the sixth seed in the South-Central region with their 11-5-2 record. The Lions will travel to host Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado to face the third seeded Hilltoppers of St. Edward's University.
