CARTHAGE — Fifteen years ago, when tall, dark-haired, golden-piped Bernie Tiede was awaiting trial for murder, there seemed to be a constant stream of admiring locals — primarily older widows — heaping their support on him.

The women brought treats to the jail for Tiede, a former assistant funeral director. They praised him as a sweet, young, churchgoing community volunteer and pleaded with the Panola County prosecutor, Danny Buck Davidson, not to send him to prison.

UPDATE: 10:20 - The man being sought in Terrell Monday night has been arrested, but not before two more people were added to his victims list.

A 27-year-old woman was found dead in her home in Sulphur Springs early Tuesday afternoon.

According to Sulphur Springs Police Chief Jim Bayuk, Police dispatchers received two 911 calls from the residence, both times with nothing on the other end but silence.

Bayuk tells Kerry Craig of  the Sulphur Springs News-Telegram that officers were dispatched to the home where the body of Jessica Tyler Crayton was found with "massive trauma to her neck and throat area."
