Cindy Roller, editor of the Cooper Review and KETR contributor, braved temperatures in the upper 30s and constant rainfall to get these photos of the Texas A&M University-Commerce Lions compete against Harding University in the Live United Texarkana Bowl at Razorback Stadium in Texarkana, Ark., on Dec. 13. The Lions lost, 44-3.
The Harding Bison rushed for 297 yards and scored three times in the third quarter and rolled to a 44-3 win over Texas A&M University-Commerce in the inaugural Live United Texarkana Bowl on Friday at Razorback Stadium.
The game was the first postseason appearance for the Lions since 1995, but cold temperatures and a steady rain did not help the Lion (7-5) offense, who completed just seven of its 37 passes and finished with just 100 total yards on the night. Meanwhile, the Bison (9-2) showed little ill effects from the weather, racking up 504 total yards.
The Texas A&M University-Commerce football team, coming off its first winning season (7-4) in 12 years under new head coach Colby Carthel, has qualified for a postseason bowl game.
The Lions will face Harding University of Searcy, Ark., in the inaugural Live United Texarkana Bowl. The game will be played at noon on Sat., Dec. 7 at Razorback Stadium in Texarkana, Ark. Profits made above the expenses will benefit the United Way of Texarkana.
