Federal court sets first date for abortion lawsuit

The law was the subject of summer-long battles inside and outside the Texas Capitol when it was making its way through the Legislature.

Opponents of the new restrictions on abortion facilities in Texas are taking their case to court.

The Center for Reproductive Rights has confirmed the group’s first day in federal court will be Oct. 21.

Case of missing woman still unsolved

A driver's license phoro of Lisa Chandler, the Wolfe City-area woman missing since 2007.

Six years ago a woman who lived just outside of Wolfe City apparently walked away from her home and was never seen again.

“It is like she just walked off the face of the earth,” Hunt County Sheriff Randy Meeks said of the 2007 disappearance of Lisa Chandler.

A reward remains in effect for information concerning Chandler’s whereabouts, although Meeks said there are no new leads in the case.
