A man from Lamar County with underlying health conditions has died from the neural-invasive strain of the West Nile virus, a health official says.

BONHAM - At least one confirmed case of the West Nile virus has been detected in the city and three cases in Fannin County are under review.

SULPHUR SPRINGS - It is the first confirmed case of a human infected with the West Nile virus in Hopkins County this year. Reports show the victim is from Sulphur Springs.

BONHAM - They’ll join area cities like Commerce and Greenville that are routinely providing the service.

HUNT COUNTY - As the threat of the West Nile virus looms, local agencies have launched a website aimed at informing citizens how to protect themselves.
