West Texas A&M University officials confirmed on Oct. 27 that school administrators are investigating the university’s football program after a former player alleged that his parents took an online Spanish test for one of the team’s top players.
In the second semifinal of the Lone Star Conference Tournament, West Texas A&M and Texas A&M University-Commerce played a thrilling five set affair for a spot in the championship match on Saturday afternoon. The Lions were unable to end their nine match-losing streak to the Lady Buffs.
A&M-Commerce was just the second team all season to push the Lady Buffs to a fifth set. The Lions won the first set 25-21, dropped the second set by the same score, won the third 27-25, dropped the fourth 25-19 and came up just two points short in set five, 15-13.
A&M-Commerce made 25th-ranked West Texas A&M take notice on the opening play of the game, but the Buffs wore down the Lions in the second half as A&M-Commerce dropped a 62-28 decision at Kimbrough Memorial Stadium in Canyon.
