With the threat of winter weather moving back into the region, the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for most of North Texas. The advisory is in effect from 6 a.m. Sunday morning and will last through 9 p.m. Sunday night.

A Winter Weather Advisory means that road conditions could become hazardous to drive on, so extra precaution is required when traveling.

Despite successful repairs in some areas, hundreds of Northeast Texas residents remain without power following Friday's ice storm.

Much of the region - including Commerce, Sulphur Springs, Paris and Bonham - is served by Oncor Electric Delivery. More than 2,500 Oncor employees and contractors have arrived in Texas to to enact emergency repairs.

"We have our employees and outside utilities and contractors positioned across our service territory, prepared to respond as soon as possible," said Oncor chief operating officer Jim Greer.

While the bulk of this weekend's ice storm has already impacted the region, sub-freezing temperatures and a chance for wintry precipitation will continue through Sunday.

Friday night, a break in cloud cover should result in very cold overnight low temperatures, with thermometer readings expected in the mid-teens. Winds out of the north around 10-15 mph, gusting to 20, could result in wind-chill values in the single digits to low teens.

Rain, freezing rain possible Monday

Collin, Delta, Fannin, Franklin, Hopkins, Hunt, Kaufman, Lamar, Rains, Rockwall, Van Zandt, Wood and other counties in Northeast Texas are under a Winter Weather Advisory. Red River and Bowie Counties remain under a Winter Storm Warning.
