Eastern New Mexico used two scoring runs to defeat Texas A&M-University-Commerce 90-76 on Jan. 22 in Portales, N.M. The Zias (6-8, 4-1 Lone Star Conference) started 0-of-10 from the floor before rallying to defeat the Lions (3-12, 2-4).
The knockout punch came in the form of a 20-1 run over a 4:48 span in the second half that allowed the Eastern New Mexico to withstand a 15-2 run by A&M-Commerce over the last 3:56 to get the win.
Texas A&M University-Commerce had the lead for over 24 minutes versus Texas A&M University-Kingsville, but the Lions could not fend off the Javelinas and fell 76-72 at The Field House on Wednesday night. The Lions fall to 2-10 overall and 1-2 in Lone Star Conference play. The win lifts Kingsville to 6-6 overall and 1-1 in LSC play.
A&M-Commerce (2-9, 1-1 LSC) needed overtime to seal a 71-64 upset win over the visiting Mustangs of Midwestern State (9-4, 1-1). The win marks the end of a seven game losing streak for the Lions versus the Mustangs. The Lions did their damage on the defensive end, holding Midwestern State to just 1-20 (5%) from three-point range and a season low 29.3% from the field overall.
The Angelo State Rambelles erased a six-point halftime deficit and held off an Texas A&M University-Commerce comeback attempt in the game’s final two minutes to edge the Lions 55-54 in the Lone Star Conference opener for both teams on Thursday at The Field House.
A&M-Commerce will take on their third Division I team this season when they face the Lumberjacks of Stephen F. Austin on Monday. The Lions will try to make it back-to-back wins after getting their first win of the season last time out versus Ouachita Baptist. The Lions then open up Lone Star Conference play when the calendar turns to 2014 when Angelo and Midwestern State come to The Field House. This season marks the third straight season in which the Lions open up their conference schedule at home.

Texas A&M University-Commerce got their first win of the season over Ouachita Baptist and also recording the program's first ever win over the Tigers. The Lions held the Tigers scoreless from the three-point line in the second half and got 12 second-half points from Danielle Dixon to secure the win.
Overall the Lions held the Tigers to just 3-of-20 from behind the line (15%) and to just 35% shooting overall.
Texas A&M University-Commerce outshot Henderson State from the two and three-point range, but the Lady Reddies made 22-of-26 their free throws in order to get past the Lions and hand A&M-Commerce their seventh straight loss to open the 2013-14 season.
