KXII-TV

BONHAM - After five years on the job, Bonham City Manager Corby Alexander has submitted his letter of resignation, which will be considered by council members Thursday.

North Texas E-News reports Alexander has accepted the same job in La Porte, Texas, beginning in July.

A graduate of Texas A&M University, the 37-year-old city manager has a bachelor’s degree in political science and his master's in public administration. Alexander was also serving as the Bonham Economic Development Corporation Executive Director.

Alexander tells KXII-TV, "I'm excited about it. I hate to leave Bonham, I've met a lot of great people here, I've met a lot of great friends. It's a bittersweet moment for us."

His noted accomplishments include a new city hall, a three-year deal with commissioners allowing the Bonham Fire Department to provide emergency medical services to county citizens and construction of a new animal shelter.
